GC-HRMS is currently used to analyze chlorinated dioxins and furans, PCBs, pesticides and other chlorinated and brominated contaminants. New approaches, such as GC-MS/MS, show promise as alternatives but require new development and the testing of compatibility with existing methods and quality criteria to demonstrate equivalency with GC-HRMS data. SGS AXYS has been at the forefront of providing the US-EPA with method development and validation support on GC-MS/MS methods for dioxins. Building on this successful project, Bharat Chandramouli, Ph. D., Environmental Laboratory Product Manager, North America at SGS and Coreen Hamilton, Ph. D., Senior Scientist, SGS AXYS, recently co-authored a study, titled, “GC-MS/MS Approaches for Chlorinated POPs Analysis: What’s Next After Dioxins and Furans. Validation and Comparative Data Evaluation”.
Dr. Chandramouli will present the results of this study at the National Environmental Monitoring Conference’s (NEMC) virtual conference as Vendor Lunch Speaker, 11:45 AM ET, on Tuesday, August 18. This virtual conference, which runs from August 3 – August 21, requires registration and a fee to attend the technical programs. Register for the conference here.
